11 Week Ultrasound

Aug 20-26, 2012
Baby #2 at 11 weeks!
My only note for this week was that Caleb's sixth tooth came in. It's the fourth one on the top. I also didn't take many pictures, but I did take one very picture that reminded me of something very important that happened this week: baby #2's first pre-natal visit.
Grinding his teeth
Close-up of the pirate look, except he won't stay still
Cuddling with Dad
Caleb likes to grab my face, so I frequently have little scabs on my face from his sharp fingernails.
Can you tell he loves his Dad by the way he's smiling at him?!
He loves the dishwasher. He unloads all of the silverware and tries to climb inside. Loading and unloading the dishwasher is yet another chore that has been added to the "cannot do while Caleb is awake" list.
Now for details about the prenatal visit!!!

As the ultrasound tech took us back to the ultrasound room, she was asking about my information. *TMI warning: if you think girly/pregnancy stuff is icky, skip the next little bit (or the rest of this).*
Tech: I need you to correct this for me, it says your last period was December 2010.
Me: That is correct.
Tech: That's not possible.
Me: I'm still breastfeeding (as I point to Caleb).
Tech: Ooohh... so you don't know how long you've been pregnant!
Me: Nope, not really. I'm pretty sure I'm only 8-9 weeks along because I had a negative pregnancy test about that long ago.

As she was doing the ultrasound and measuring our little baby, she announced that I was 11 weeks along and that our due date is March 11, 2013! I had been thinking we were going to have an April baby, but I was happy to be proven wrong. (I wouldn't have been as happy to have been proven wrong if she said I was going to have a May baby.)

It was so fun to watch our little baby wiggle around and move his/her little arms and legs! Seeing the little baby on the ultrasound and hearing the little heartbeat just makes the pregnancy that much more real.

Then we waited for a few minutes before we saw the doctor. As he entered he asked:
Dr: This says your last period was December 2010. When was it?
Me: December 2010
Dr: Are you still nursing?
Me: Yeah
Dr: You really didn't have a clue what your due date was?!

It turns out that when I had had a false negative pregnancy test, it threw off my calculations and made me just think I was a wuss about being tired and having an upset stomach. We are so excited for our little new little baby!
