Monday I protested our property tax. It was unsuccessful and I had to change Leila's poopy diapers (yes, plural) on my lap in a tiny stall in the bathroom at the courthouse, but it was a learning experience. Thanks to Cathryn and Luke for watching Caleb.
Allen got home from work by 4:45 so we went swimming. Caleb dove head first into the pool, then instead of jumping to dad, would jump away from him with arms and legs spread wide.
Tuesday we went to the bear branch pool and to Sonic and waited in the Target parking lot for a while before Allen got back.
Wednesday Caleb took a three hour nap! Leila didn't nap well. We went to the Sawmill pool that has a dragon slide (where Caleb always reminds me that he was stung by a bee). He also doesn't like it when I say dragon slide because in his mind it is a crocodile or alligator, so he corrects me and reminds me it is a yaya (alligator) or tata (crocodile). He also corrects me that zebras are horses and camels are cows. I'm already 'wrong' all of the time, I can't wait to see what happens when Caleb's a teenager.
We were the only ones in the kiddie pool so Caleb only had mom to play with and was bored and ready to go within ten minutes of getting there. It took 45 minutes of prep to get both kids ready, 10 minutes of driving to get there and ten minutes home... For ten minutes at the pool! The worst part is that I then have to entertain him at home for even longer, which is hard in 100 degree weather.
Speaking of weather, I was feeling grateful earlier this week that I don't live on Phoenix when I saw their high temps forecast. Then on the radio I heard that our week of 100 degree weather was actually 107 degrees with the heat index.
Back to the story, while driving home I saw Cathryn and Luke walking to the pool and asked Caleb if he wanted to go play with Luke at the pool. After an enthusiastic, "yeah!" we played at our pool for an hour!
Thursday morning Caleb took lots of toys on the tramp. We jumped with the football for a while, then he acted like he was done so we went inside and he immediately grabbed his school bus and ran back to the door. So back on the tramp we went, for another two minutes when he started mooing. I left him on the trampoline and I went to get the cow, horse and a few other toys. He loved lining them all up nicely and then jumping and watching them fall all over.
| This is how we style Caleb's hair... with sweat.
I wasn't feeling like taking the kids to the pool and it was at least 103 outside, which is pretty hot to be taking Leila out in. So we went to Walmart and then had Luke come play. We jumped on the tramp with sprinklers going underneath it while Leila slept inside and then went inside to play once she woke up. After Luke and Cathryn went home, we went back out on the tramp with the sprinklers. Caleb loves it!
Friday morning Dad worked from home and I took the kids on a run and to the park. Once Allen realized that he was going to have a really late night, he came and played with Caleb until it was time to go to the cardiologist appointment, which ended up being a pretty pointless visit.
His first question for us was, "why are you back so soon? I didn't need to see you for another six months. Her heart is doing fine." We came back because you told us to come back since her weight gain was slow... He then remembered and looked at her growth, she is still a slow weight gainer, weighing in at 10 lb 4 oz, but she is growing. She's a happy baby and has plenty of wet and dirty diapers, so now we don't have to see him again until December.
