August 12-18, 2013
I started off the week exhausted because Leila hadn't been sleeping well day or night. After being impatient with Caleb over dumb things, I knew I needed to make some changes... Both for me and for Leila.
While both kids were asleep I had a much needed moment of recentering and refocusing. Taking the time (only lasted 20 minutes) to sit and ponder, write in my journal and pray was exactly what I needed.
I started some goals to help me be better balanced and as I shared my experience with Allen that night, he decided to join in with me. We have a white board to mark off the daily goals on: exercise, scripture study, playing the piano and (for Al) exam study time.
Doing these goals has helped me feel more happy as I'm taking time for me. I am running twice a week; since having Leila, if I run more than that I get sick (no idea why). The other days I've been doing the seven minute workout and stretching. Caleb likes to do it with me too!
My scripture study goal is 10-15 minutes a day and piano is for five minutes. So I'm only spending thirty minutes a day differently but it makes a big difference mentally.

| We went on a run and played at the park. We're getting ready for the 10 for Texas in October. |
 |
| Leila slept most of the time at the pool. |
I really needed to help her sleep habits since she wasn't sleeping for more than an hour and a half at a time without waking at night. She wasn't hungry, just wanted to be held. So
Monday night I stopped going to her when she fussed, I waited until she started crying and sometimes she just fell asleep before crying.
This week she slept tons better at night and her naps consolidated into three naps instead of up for an hour or two, sleep for half an hour.
I don't think I've written this before but Leila has done it for at least the past two months: she grabs her clothes, sheets, my clothes, my skin, anything within reach and just opens and closes her fist around it, scratching with each close.
Caleb pooped in the big boy potty three times! He also peed in it once. We aren't ready for full-blown potty training but we ask him if he wants to try on the toilet when we see him starting to grunt. Sometimes he says no and sometimes he sits without success but its a starting point!
Caleb and Leila got sick. Leila's nose just started dripping after her nap
Friday afternoon and continued with congestion and a bad cough for another week. Caleb's fever spiked without warning ...
I accidentally deleted several paragraphs of text a few months ago when I was working on this. I got frustrated and stopped catching up on blogging. Now I have no clue what I was writing and no clue what the kids were sick with or where that story was leading. My brain tells me nothing and my planner tells me what we ate for dinner each night, what was on my grocery list, the missionaries came for dinner on Tuesday, we returned something to Home Depot on Wednesday, Leila turned 5 months old on Friday and I taught in Primary on Sunday that we should pray anytime and anywhere.
Apparently we were still going to the pool. This looks like it was Bear Branch Pool.

| We played at the park and it looks like my phone camera fogged up because of the humidity outside. |
Caleb asks to color every day, multiple times a day.
 |
| She still loves the bath so she usually bathes while I work on dinner. It calms her down when she's fussy in the evening. |
 |
| Aawww... holding hands while watching Thomas. |
She's a rolling and scooting pro. She rolls front to back and back to front with ease and scoots (with her forehead pressed to the ground because she still can't hold her head up while scooting) around the floor and crib to get to her binky or toys.
 |
| He loves splashing in puddles and running in the rain. |
 |
| After getting tired of cleaning up all of the colored pencils and getting them back out again throughout the day, we brought the Little Tikes table down from the playroom and just kept the coloring stuff out. We're lucky Caleb doesn't try drawing on walls or anything, so it doesn't worry me to keep them out. |
 |
| Spiky, wet hair from playing in the rain. |
