Painting and Parks

May 6-12, 2013

Monday I took a three hour nap (6:15-9) while Lizzi and Grammy watched the kids. Caleb took his nap from 9-10:30 so Lizzi and I went on a run while he slept. I trimmed trees while Lizzi and Grammy entertained kids outside. Shower and Blues Clues, Caleb napped and I took Leila for a follow up with our pediatrician.
He brings a new level to the word bouncer. He gets flying in this thing!
Loves hooded towels!
Sometimes when my feet/knees are achy, I ask Caleb if we can read with our feet up. I guess it stuck because he has started to initiate it.
The girls playing some game on Lizzi's phone
There was a fire on the house behind ours. We heard some sirens and then looked out the window while making cashew chicken and there was a firefighter busting through the roof! This is the second time Lizzi has visited that a house fire has started on the street behind us . . . Lizzi? We walked over there to see what was going on and Caleb loved the firetrucks and the bubbles (foam stuff from the firefighters). Meanwhile, Allen's bus broke down on the freeway and he was late getting home.

Smiles for Aunt Lizzi
Wearing Grammy's visor.
Other things that we did with Grammy and Lizzi here: Bear Branch park, painting boxes, temple, tree trimming, finished headboard and footboard.
This is what I do everywhere I go and what I feel like I do all the time.

Blue's Clues, Blue's Clues!

He liked painting but didn't like when I got paint all over his foot for a mother's day card.

Went to waterway square, fed fish, played in fountain. I got hit right in the bum! Caleb got more and more confident playing in the water. By the end, he didn't mind getting soaked by the fountain and fell into the pool of water while splashing.
Giving Leila a ride in the laundry basket.
Caleb whips out words like lemonade and zipper unexpectedly. Sometimes I pick out other words among his jibber jabber. I bet that's what we sound like to him, which is why he does it... Blah blah blah outside blah blah blah shoes on blah blah blah. He also jumped and got both feet off the ground for the first time!
Picture before Grammy left but Lizzi got to stay!
Surfing on the water bottle at WalMart.
Mother's day: Allen attempted to give Leila a bottle so I could get a little more sleep. I got to go back to bed from 6:30-8:30 am. Allen and I went to the park with Caleb, he fell asleep on the way home. Had Lizzi's help while Allen played the organ (phew!). Caleb yelled to dad in Sacrament meeting and wanted to go sit with him. Caleb went to nursery with Lizzi and had fun (he usually just cries).

Hospital: Take Two

April 29-May 5, 2012

Caleb is either not feeling well, in his terrible twos (6 months early) or officially sick of Leila being here. The past two days have been a patience-building (or patience-losing) experience. I'm just hoping he's just not feeling well so that it's something that will pass quickly and can be treated with Tylenol. :)

Trying to get Caleb to not be so overtired. I think that's a big part of the problem. He has fought taking two naps but has been much happier after a good, early morning nap. The afternoon nap he cries going to sleep and wakes up crying and grumpy.

He figured out how to slide out of the stroller when not buckled in. He has been antisocial and just walks away to be by himself if we're at the park with other people. We've been egg hunting again, with nothing in the eggs, but he still loves it.
Here's a package my mom and sisters sent me for my golden birthday. They bought everything in the store that was "gold-ish" colored. Thanks!
Leila has been smiling and cooing. I took shower, when got close enough for her to see, she smiles. Likes the fan. When on her tummy, she moves across the crib. It's definitely not a crawl but she shifts her weight and does kind of an inch worm motion. She slept five and a half hours Tuesday night, six Wednesday night

Caleb plays peekaboo with her. He also likes to sit close to her feet. If he's in a bad mood, he pretends to be hurt when she kicks him. If he's in a good mood, acts like she's tickling him.

Monday evening we went to the White's house for dinner. Tuesday night I had a primary presidency meeting.

Thursday we ended up back in the hospital again. After three projectile vomiting episodes in one afternoon and two consecutive hours of mucousy spit up/choking episodes (including one more cyanotic episode), the pediatrician sent us back to the hospital for observation and testing.
Poor little girl is miserable.
She tested positive for RSV, which is why the doctors think she has so much mucous she's choking on. But she doesn't actually present with any other symptoms... Last night (Thursday) we also had a chest x ray, stomach ultrasound and bloodwork done. Now we're waiting on those results and will be getting another echocardiogram done today (and hopefully results back today so we can maybe leave).
Poor little girl
Poor Caleb probably feels abandoned again. He's staying with the Parkers for now.

I hate being in the hospital, overhearing nurses talk about us, sitting by myself, feeling like I need to be with Caleb. It feels similar to when we were in the NICU.

Doctors and nurses took Leila and I much more seriously after seeing her have an vomiting episode. It made me feel better that they were somewhat shocked when saw what was happening and it was nice to have them suction her and give me a break. They were surprised at the amount of mucous as well.

They thought she might be having seizures each time she had an episode and weren't sure about her abnormal posturing. They didn't have any answers because tests came back normal for the most part but thought Sandifer's Syndrome was something that might explain her symptoms. They started her on reflux medicine to hopefully help.

EEG
Saturday night my mom and Lizzi flew in. We weren't sure how long we were going to be in the hospital when they got their tickets to come help us and it was good to see Lizzi before she left on her mission too. We were released Saturday afternoon after getting lots of testing done.
Echocardiogram
Sunday they watched the kids while Allen and I went to church. That was nice! They also helped me make some "brass plates" for my sharing time.

Some older pictures that I just found hidden in another folder on my computer:
I love all the trees where we live.
Just chillin
Favorite way to watch TV: on Mom's legs.
He loves to help push.

Leila's first time in the swing - she loved it.
For a while Caleb loved Blue's Clues and taking his pants off (the latter phase hasn't ended, even a year later).
We played at the mall play place about once a week March-July.
She sleeps sitting up...
or sometimes on her belly or being held. Nights are still really rough.
When I want to take a shower, Caleb gets to watch Baby Einstein on the car DVD player.

I had to take Leila to the hospital for weekly weigh-ins at the lactation center for a few months. It was not fun. It's a lot of work to load to babies into their car seats, drive to the hospital, get the stroller out, unload kids, undress and weigh Leila, dress her and walk back out to the car to load in, just to unload when we got home. It was an hour ordeal each time even though it's only a 5-10 minute drive to the hospital! And it was frustrating because she rarely gained much weight.
