Halloween!

October 28-November 3, 2013

This week we had OT and talked about long-term goals for Leila. We also had an appointment with Leila's new GI doctor to discuss Zantac, constipation, dairy, soy, seeing a dietician and solid foods. He is great! He listens, asks questions and is a dad who just understands kids. We also finally returned Leila's pump! Yay! That thing was the source of too many frustrations...

The pictures are out of order but I'm too lazy to put them in order of what happened each day.

We carved pumpkins this week. Caleb wasn't sure about sticking his hand inside of the gooey-ness. On Halloween the kids wore costumes all day. Well, it was a little too hot for Leila to wear the cat part of her costume, so she just wore the underneath part. She even kept a bow on for a little while!

This is probably one of my all-time favorite pictures of my kids!
Watching the fish at Walmart

Leila loves to play with the door stop.

Caleb likes to let Leila chew on his finger.
Heading out to trick-or-treat
Caleb wasn't so sure about trick-or-treating. We only went to three houses and he ended up in tears at the first two houses.

This was the third house and he was so excited about eating a piece of candy that we ended on a positive note.

Caleb likes to hold Leila.

Mesmerized by the candle
Leila had just gotten out of the bath and was wrapped in her towel, Caleb had already been wearing his towel on his head, so we just took off his shirt so we could get a cute towel picture of our kids.
Sunday we had the kids practice for the Primary program. It should be great but it'll be a relief when it's over!

Letter to Lizzi:
So... About the red, flaky and itchy rash near your mouth... I got that on my mission too and after deductive reasoning, I realized it happened every time I ate a mango. And the same rash would be between my fingers and sometimes down my arm, where the mango juice had oozed. It showed up usually the day after I ate it and got progressively more red, flaky and itchy for a few days before going away. So if it happens again, pay attention to foods. I now know I'm allergic to mangoes :( sadness because I love them.

Saturday I went out with the sister missionaries serving in our ward to go visit potential investigators that the Spanish sisters had contacted/former investigators they hadn't seen for a long time. They weren't allowed to go alone because it's a sketchy area with drugs and people getting shot, so they invited me to come. :)

The first few didn't answer so we left notes and then a woman did answer and let us in! We talked with her for almost an hour and it was a blessing I was there. There were experiences and stories I shared that were able to help her. The sisters are going back today but it's when I can't go. She needs the gospel and she's at the point where she could choose to soften her heart and accept it... Or not make difficult changes and remain where she's at and continue not being truly happy. Choosing the gospel will make things very hard initially for her... Lots of changes and repentance but hopefully she's able to see the joy it will bring too.

Anywho, I hope you have members who go with you; don't feel like you're inconveniencing them by asking. Just let them know what you're doing and invite them along! Let them feel the ups and downs of missionary work, especially those who are RMs. They can say no if they're busy but if they see you teach, they're more likely to let you teach their friends. :)
