We left Utah Tuesday, Dec 27th so Allen could get back to work on Wednesday. On the way to Utah I took 4 changes of clothes for Caleb in our carry-ons; he didn't use one of them. So on the way back to Texas, I packed only one change of clothes, which he peed in and spit up on so we changed him. Then he had an episode of poop exploding up the back . . . so he got to go back into the wet clothes. Lesson learned. Unfortunately, Mom just got to have poop all over the front of her jeans for the layover and next flight.
Wednesday, while Allen was at work, Caleb rolled over for the first time! I didn't get any video of it, but
here's some video of me trying to get him to do it again. He did do it again to show Dad and then showed Grandma Christy on Skype a couple of days ago.
Allen had a half day on Friday (our two year anniversary!) so we decided to drive to Corpus Christi just for fun (about a 4.5 hour drive - longer when you have to stop to breastfeed).

| Caleb's first roadtrip |
| Caleb was glad to get out of his carseat when we got to the motel, but apparently his legs are stuck in carseat mode and won't straighten. |
| Saturday we toured the USS Lexington, an aircraft carrier that is now a museum |
| I liked pressing all of the buttons in the cockpit |
| Entering the belly of the beast (don't remember which jet this was but the air was really stale in it) |
| I'm sure there's a name for this room, but you can see the huge shells ready to be fired. |
| Captain Caleb steers the ship |
| Walking the plank |
After the aircraft carrier, we ate lunch at Doc's, which is a restaurant right on the water. You can drive your boat up to eat there! Since we didn't have a boat we just drove. Allen got some
video while we were there.
| Down the stairs below me is where the boats dock |
| Delicious, fresh seafood! |
After Doc's, we drove to the beach on Padre Island. Here's some
footage at the drive-thru beach.
| Caleb's first trip to the beach |
| He didn't love the cold, wet sand |
| Family footprints |
| Just parked up on the beach |
| I just realized that we have a picture like this from our honeymoon and from our one year anniversary in Hong Kong . . . looks like it's a tradition and we need to go to the beach every year for our anniversary! |
| We drove around to check out other beaches and found a prime photo op |
| So pretty |
| I didn't know the force flash was on, which made the camera take the picture slower so I missed the sweet jumping shot and missed Allen taking a hard fall on the not-so-soft sand. |
| He was soaked and sandy . . . |
| . . . so he got to drive home shirtless while I sat in the back to keep Caleb from crying. |
We were tired and didn't feel like going back out after we got to the hotel, so we celebrated New Year's Eve by watching Top Gear marathon and
playing with Caleb. That video is worth watching!
| Caleb loves his daddy! |
| Playing with Dad |
After Caleb fell asleep, we were so tired that we didn't even stay up to watch the ball drop in New York.
| New Year's Day Caleb got his first shower! Sorry if this is embarrassing, I think it's cute. |
| On the way home we stopped at Buc-ee's . . . the billboard is right, "bathrooms worth waiting for." |
| Happy New Year Y'all |
Other cute pictures from the week:
| When he straightens his legs, he almost always crosses them |
| Going on a run with Dad |
| Strap me in Dad, I'm ready to go! |
| I forgot to put this one on last week's blog - playing with Grandpa Adams on Christmas Day while we play games |
Nikki, I really like your blog (maybe because it reminds me of my own style), you've got pictures, and commentary about them, cute stories, and the cutest baby besides my own. Maybe even some of the pictures are cuter...maybe :).
ReplyDeleteAnd, we've been to the Lexington and that Doc's restaurant, so I thought that was pretty neat too!
