| What a multi-tasker! Sweeping and mopping at the same time. |
Caleb likes to play peek-a-boo and will throw a towel or blanket or clothes over his head. He also likes to walk around with it still covering his face, but stops thinking it is funny once he crashes into the wall. He has finally started to wave to people, but he doesn't do it until after they are gone. A car will drive down the street and once it is out of sight, he will wave and blow kisses good-bye.
| He loves reading books before bed and thinks it's pretty great that he can climb onto the windowsill by himself. |
I've had Christmas M&Ms on the counter and Caleb keeps wanting them but when I give him one, he will suck on it until he gets to the chocolate and then spit it out. Words he can say include: dog, cat, mama, dada, graga (cracker), drink, uh-oh, dropped it, car, truck and "where is he/it?". They don't all sound like they're supposed to but I understand him.
| Now instead of sitting on my lap to read, he kicks me out of the chair! |
| Starting our drive to Utah around 6 pm... bedtime. Thursday, December 20th |
Our drive took about 23 hours, including multiple stops to change poopy diapers and an hour stop each for breakfast and lunch to let Caleb get some energy out. Breakfast was at Denny's in some little town in New Mexico, lunch was in Aspen. The roads were clear other than coming down from Aspen, when they were icy. I was glad Allen was driving then.
Caleb did surprisingly well, other than having a completely raw bum from sitting in poop when we didn't realize he had a dirty diaper. When we'd stop and get Caleb out, he had a hard time standing because his legs were so numb.
| He read, watched Tangled and Despicable Me, played with Mom when I sat back there, colored, slept and ate. |
| I made a snack necklace that he had fun eating. |
| It probably wasn't smart to put pieces of red vine on there. That was a little messy, but he liked it. |
We stopped in Orem to say hi to Grandma and Grandpa Adams before finishing the drive up to Holladay, where we stayed for the first couple of days. A lot of the trip is a blur of hanging out with family and Caleb waking up too early and I didn't take many pictures to help me remember... so I'll write what details I can remember.
Saturday night we went to Temple Square to look at the lights and we bundled Caleb up in his snow suit for the first time. It was a little big and he was like the kid on A Christmas Story.
| I can't put my arms down! |
When he tripped while running around, he couldn't get his hands out in front of him to catch him, they stuck too far out tot he side. By the end of the night he had some pretty sweet bruises/cuts on his forehead.
| Caleb warmed up to Grammy the fastest since we Skype almost every day and he got to see her twice in the fall. |
Sunday we went to church in Orem and enjoyed their Christmas program, great job Grandma and Grandpa! Then we hung out with them the rest of the day.
